While often described as a Jasper, Gary Green is actually a petrified wood! From Oregon, close to the Nevada border is where this material is sourced. Petrified wood is created when the organic material is deprived of oxygen, such as with a volcanic event where ash coats everything and seals it in. Minerals seeping into the silicated replacement material after being covered in water are what gives this gemstone it's vibrant colors!
